Going green is the fastest
growing movement we have
ever witnessed. The number
of new green products that
appear every day is
astounding.
Not very long ago the
majority of people did not
know what you were talking
about when you mentioned
green building, or green
living, or any of the other
green themes that many of
us have known about for
years. Now it seems that
green is at the forefront of
everyone's conversations.
I was eating at one of my
favorite local restaurants this
past weekend. We were
going to stop at a friend's
house after dinner and I
knew he loved one of the
appetizers on the menu. As I
paid the tab I ordered a to go
order of the appetizer. When
the order arrived it was in a
plastic bag. The manager
walked by my table a few
moments later and
recognizing me he stopped,
pointing to the plastic bag he
said to me, "What is this, you
don't use plastic bags. It can
take hundreds of years for
plastic bags to break down. I
know that from reading your
web site."
I said, "You're right, I don't
use them, but apparently you
still do. This is your bag and
as soon as I leave I am going
to give it back to your
hostess."
Sheepishly he plead guilty
and said he was in the
process of fazing them out
and was just trying to use up
the last of his inventory.
Good for going green.
I just wish some of the
manufacturers would offer a
buy back program or other
incentive to turn in your
unused bags, similar to what
the ink jet cartridge suppliers
are doing.
